Like a lot of moms, I continue to struggle to make it to the gym with a little one. Her schedule seems to perfectly coincide with all the class times that I could even try to consider. So I’ve been trying to make working out at home more of a priority. I was lucky enough to get an early Christmas present in the form of The Mirror. Since then, I’ve been posting on my Instagram stories multiple times a week, and I’ve had TONS of questions about it.
First of all, what is The Mirror?
Basically, your smartphone blew up and now hangs on the wall (or leans against it). You have a trainer leading your virtual class that is right in front of you on a large screen/mirror.
What all does The Mirror do?
You can join a live class or select from the massive selection of On Demand classes from 9 different instructors. Everything from a 15 minutes stretching to 60 minutes of cardio bootcamp. That includes barre, boxing, cardio dance, pilates, pre/postnatal, strength, stretch, and yoga workouts. You can select 15, 30, 45, or 60 minute workouts. You can also filter them by equipment (chair, dumbbells, foam roller, jump rope, kettlebells, medicine ball, mini bands, resistance bands, yoga blocks). The Mirror has its own speakers and a great music selection for your workouts. You can also listen to your own music through its output as well.
Are the workouts intense enough?
Yes, most definitely yes. You can watch your heart rate trends as you go. I can say that every workout has kicked my a$$–even level 1, 15 minute cardio workouts. You can still scale as you need. I look forward to the day that barbells are included!
Can the workouts be modified?
Yes. When you create your profile you can mention specific injuries, ability, and goals, and this helps The Mirror configure the right results for you.
Can other people see you?
Other people that are joining the class canNOT see you. You are in the privacy of your own home. However, if you are in a one-on-one session then the camera and microphone are turned on (there is an optional lens cap). They can tweak your form and encourage you the whole way. Yes, it is truly like having classes/trainers COME TO YOU.
What all is included?
When you buy a starter park you get lots of accessories: delivery/setup, a heart rate monitor, and resistance bands. You can also get a stand to have the Mirror lean against a wall/be slightly more portable (it isn’t exactly light). Setup and delivery is a separate charge, but I promise you that you can easily set this up yourself!
Is it worth it?
A resounding yes. This is cheaper than my CrossFit membership. The monthly membership I have at a nearby gym (for when I can’t make it to CrossFit classes) is more than the monthly Mirror membership. Also, you can have a total of 5 users on your account with their own settings!
This is (unfortunately) not a sponsored message/advertisement. It is simply one of the many products I plan to share with you this year that make my journey easier!
